Dropping ZTJ

Hi everyone,

As you can probably guess from the title of this post, I don’t have any good news.

After taking into consideration my current time constraints, the editor applications and various other things that have cropped up recently, I have made the decision to stop translating Ze Tian Ji.

Work was an important factor towards my decision to drop the project, but I also had to take my health into consideration (I have a long-term condition that makes it very bad for me to not rest properly), alongside my wish to try and apply to study a doctorate – something I was originally going to put on hold for a while, but recent events have made me decide not to wait any longer.

It has been fairly fun to translate ZTJ for others and to try my best to allow everyone to appreciate the style of the author. I haven’t reached far enough to show others the plot progression, but hopefully, whoever picks up the project will be able to lead readers towards that goal.

I will continue to work on editing the old chapters done by binggo&corp because it’s something that needs to be done, but other than that I won’t be participating in translations of ZTJ at all.

I have already sent out emails to those who applied to be editors, to explain my choice, but I would once again like to thank them for taking the time to apply.

Thank you everyone,

  1. Erebus says:

Sorry to hear it, but health and life is more important. Thanks for translating what you have, and good luck with your doctorate!

  2. xxpointblanqxx says:

thanks for all the work so far. Ive got a feeling that ZTJ is going to be one of those that the 6th translator on it will get a lot of props for because at that point it will be considerably more interesting… as it stands it was a nice break from the mainstream novels so thanks again. hope you get well!

  3. Jloenw says:

I must say am shocked but good for you. There’s no point focusing on this if you have other priorities. I understand your decision and wish you luck in your doctorate. Thanks for translating up to now!

  4. Ul says:

Oh 🙁 Too bad. But your decision is understandable. RL and your health take priority.
A pity! I really liked ZTJ. Hopefully someone picks it up soon.
Anyways thank you for your translations till now and good luck with your life.

  5. molnet says:

NOTHING is more important than your health and life. Take good care of yourself, but do know you will be missed. GL :3

  6. Wytchlord says:

Thanks for all the chapters you have translated and good luck with achieving your doctorate.

  7. SCSS says:

    That’s a shame.
Was hoping you’d at least continue at your own pace until you can find someone to pick it up or something.

  8. Flyingiguanna says:

Nooo now i’ll never know whats in the box. That said, thanks for all you have done, and we’ll be survive so don’t worry about us.

  9. Belkar says:

Thank you for all your effort, you will be missed!

Also, good luck with your doctorate and take care of your health. 🙂

  10. drahu says:

I for one am not sorry to see this go but is rather glad it is! I don’t care for any other stories unless it’s LLS and SDG, infact you can drop all stories besides those two, that’s what im hoping for! But school and your health comes first before any of this. Be sure to look after yourself first before doing this.

    • Moose says:

You must be a moron or something. bbkgs translates neither LLS and SDG last time I checked.

    • GSC says:

He wasn’t translating those…? Take a look at who is translating what next time. Shiroyukineko actually opened up the site to host others’ projects’ also a fair bit of time ago. LLS is being translated by Shiroyukineko, SDG is being done by Andy.

I, for one, appreciate the work bbkgs put into translating this. I found this series to be very refreshing, and liked the style. Thank you for the work you put into making sure that this read well, and trying to let the author’s work shine through. I know that isn’t exactly easy.

      • guy smiley says:

Ya, I imagine that works like ZTJ are so rare specifically because of the difficulty, compared to series where all that needs to be expressed is the name of the person who got punched, or whatever.

I sure hope it gets picked up by someone, but I’m not expecting it to, because again it seems so difficult. Thanks so much to everyone who worked on it, I wish you all the best.

  11. frfr says:

Thank you for translations, the way you conveyed original author’s style made it into even better read.

    Take care.

  12. RedEye Shaman says:

So does it mean ZTJ goes open season for other translators to pick up what you left off then?

  13. KenichiWu says:

I dont read Ze Tian Ji, but a translator thats moved on is part of life. Good Life to you!

  14. zerocrack says:

thanks for all this time and this make me seriously must learn mandarin much more. it is unbearable can not read what you like~~

    Stay healthy for you

  15. JY says:

:’c Always looked forward to the new updates and constantly checking Shiro’s website exclusively for ZTJ. Sigh, guess I’m kinda sad, but I hope you the best! Thanks for all your hard work! I’ll always remember you just like I do Binggo!

  16. kenchan223 says:

Take care and have fun with your career! Now… TO SPRAY THAT WASP TO DEATH THAT’S BEEN SWIMMING IN MY CUP!!

Actually, any ideas on how to “kill” a wasp? Plz help, it’s an emergency~ I was hoping vinegar would help but I’m unsure… :/

  17. Dragrath says:

Well it is your decision to want to translate so if you don’t have the time or enjoyment out of it then it is wholly understandable.

I will miss ZTJ which is probably my favorite of this genre of novels and of what I have seen the most unique of them as well.

I wish you the best of luck in life and feel sorry that this became a burden to you. You have definitely done an amazing job by translating it so far.

  18. DMR says:

Thanks for all the hard work, and good luck in life…

Now, everybody, raise your hands in the air to gather all of the energy so that we may find a new translator for this project XP

  19. William Alchikha says:

please don’t drop others because I am having fun reading them. (like LLS and SDG.)

  20. Jackal says:

I do not approve of this sudden abandonment.

HOWEVER, I do respect your decision.

Take care of your health, okay.
Maybe you can pick this back up later
(if it isn’t finished by that time, and no one’s working on it).

  21. The-Wandering-Dragon says:

Thank you very much for not only for directly continuing this translation for so long, but also, for refining the older translations too. I have thoroughly enjoyed ZTJ and am firmly convinced of its strength as a story.

I just hope that the next person/team/conglomerate/evil-empire to take it up, gives it as much scrutiny and effort as you did (not to say, anyone I know of doesn’t put effort in…)

Thank you for everything till now and I hope everything goes well, especially with the doctorate, from one headache to another lol!!

  22. The-Wandering-Dragon says:

    My lengthy reply didn’t send…

Long story short, thank you, you’ll be missed and good luck in all things!!

  23. Letouriste says:

Hello,i’m surprised and a little disapointed too 🙁
But whatever, you made me discover this novel and i Will always be grateful to you for that:)
Furthermore you have reached a point far enough in the plot for other translators to be very interrested to pick that up so we don’t have any right to complain;)
Thanks a lot for your Work so far,you have my gratitude

Ps:sorry for not have comment a lot

  24. appledrinker says:

  26. Riri says:

  27. cryocyberslayer says:

  28. zoko says:

You gave us non-chinese several woderful chapters of ZTJ and we all love you for all your effort <3

  29. Count Grey says:

Thanks for all of your hard work. Your health and goals in life are more important than translating this series. Besides, it has already been picked up by another group. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors 🙂

  30. Drak17 says:

    Thanks for translating thus far!

You know that feeling when you have to present in class, and the person goes before you did an awesome job? I am praying whoever pick this up does not drop the baton.

    Best of luck!
